Posted by Connecticut Accident News | Oct 10, 2019 | 0 Comments

North Stonington, CT (October 9, 2019) - Emergency crews from Ashaway, Westerly, Stonington, and North Stonington all responded to reports of a fatal collision on I-95 at 8 p.m. Between exits 93 and 92, the two vehicles collided because one car was driving the wrong way. One of the vehicles contained four people and the other carried two. It is still unclear which of the vehicles was driving the wrong way.

Three people were killed in the head-on crash: Roger Noel (85), Dorothy Noel (83), and Abigayl Lanphear (17). They were announced to be "unresponsive" on Twitter by Hopkinton's Emergency Management Agency the night of the crash. The other three people involved, Yvonne Noel (56), Cynthia Plaziak (62), and Jada Laboy (17) were all seriously injured in the accident and transported to the hospital for their injuries.

The highway was closed as a result of the crash.

According to the University of Connecticut Crash Repository, there were over 2,940 motor vehicle accidents on the Stonington/North Stonington stretch of I-95 from September 2015 to September 2019. It was listed as the area with the second highest rate of collisions on the highway east of New Haven.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.
