Pro Bono Activities

In various situations, the Law Offices of Paul Levin have taken on matters where financial remuneration was not the objective or part of the bargain. There are times when an opportunity arises to serve the greater public interest or a suffering individual's personal needs where access to legal talent is unlikely to occur for various reasons. Most recently, my firm was reviewing a potential medical negligence claim involving the delayed diagnosis of a virulent form of cancer that had not been detected at the earliest possible interval towards the end of that evaluation process when it became reasonably clear that such a case could not be properly supported with reputable medical opinion. This individual who was suffering and had not been able to work became subject to a landlord/tenant housing eviction action. My firm initially attempted to negotiate and discuss the matter with the landlord's attorney which was to no avail. My firm entered an appearance, filed an answer with a number of well researched special defenses ultimately resulting in the landlord's decision to drop the matter. No fee was earned nor requested for the endeavor.

On multiple occasions, my firm has also provided guidance on matters ranging from employment to criminal and family matters and, where necessary, appropriate and competent referrals are recommended but not before attempting to address the issues in a manner which conserves the financial resources of former or potential clients as well as endeavoring to create general goodwill within the community at large.
