Utility poles and electric wires causing injury and trapping passengers in Stamford CT

An out of control vehicle ran into a utility pole in the Town of Stamford near Canal street just after 2:30am. Police responded and found that a 2008 Nissan Altima had struck two utility poles, completely knocking two of them to the ground. Worse, live electrical wires rested on the top of one of the  vehicles.

According to police, three of the six occupants were able to exit the vehicle, while the other three were trapped.Eversource crew was contacted to alleviate the risk of electrocution. One of the passengers, identified as 19-year-old Kymoni Pollock, of Stamford, was pronounced dead on scene. Also, 18-year-old NiShawn Tolliver, of Stamford, died after being taken to the hospital. Several other passengers are in critical condition having been taken to area hospitals. While the accident remains under investigation, police are seeking more information, witnesses and no doubt film footage from nearby cameras that may have captured the incident.
