Wilton, CT (May 1, 2020) - Famous actor Joe Pantoliano, known for his roles in the TV show Sopranos, the classic 1985 movie The Goonies, the thriller/mystery Memento, and 1995 Bad Boys, was involved in a pedestrian car accident on May 1st.
Mr. Pantoliano, who is 68 years old now, was taking a walk in his neighborhood. He was standing at the corner of two streets when a 54-year-old Wilton woman attempted to make a left turn onto Carriage Road. She misjudged the turn and struck a 61-year-old New York resident's vehicle who was travelling south on Ridgefield Road. The impact of the collision sent the Wilton woman's vehicle skidding into Joe Pantoliano. His wife Nancy Sheppard told reporters that he was sent flying into a wooden fence from the impact.
Mr. Pantoliano was promptly brought to Norwalk Hospital via the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was released later that day and is home with his wife Nancy Sheppard. However, he is still recovering from a severe head injury, concussion, and chest trauma. He posted a photo on Instagram sporting an enormous stitched-up wound on his head.
Ms. Sheppard told reporters that both the drivers stayed and were cooperative following the accident. Other reports say that neither drivers had any injuries. The Wilton woman was given an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.
CONNECTICUT SERIOUS PEDESTRIAN CAR ACCIDENTS

Crosswalks are essential for increased pedestrian safety, and it is highly advised to use them when crossing an intersection to reduce the risk of being hit. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that most accidents take place close to one's residence, within three miles. Of all reported accidents annually, there were close to 6,000 pedestrians killed in traffic accidents, which is about one death every 1.5 hours in the U.S.
