Stamford, CT (August 27, 2019) – On August 26, at approximately 2:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident on Canal Street.

According to reports, a vehicle was traveling through the intersection of Canal Street and Ludlow Street when the vehicle collided with a telephone pole. The impact from the collision caused some of the wires to fall down over the vehicle.

Emergency crews responding to the scene had to wait for utility crews to cut the power before attempting to rescue the victims inside.

One victim inside the vehicle, who was identified as 19-year-old Kymoni Pollock, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second victim, 18-year-old NiShawn Tolliver, was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Four other victims, including the 18-year-old driver Jerry Diaz, were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

At this time, the collision remains under investigation.
