New London, CT (April 27, 2019) - First responders were called to a private home on Bank Street around 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning. A pick-up truck crashed into the home. The truck was driven by 23- year old Jayden Bruce of Groton. Bruce was the only individual in the car at the time of the crash.
The truck was found in the bedroom on the first floor where the occupants of the home were sleeping. Firefighters were on the scene and ensured that everyone inside the residence was safely removed. The corner of the home sustained heavy damage.
The home had natural gas. Crews secured the gas to the home and Eversource as well as the building inspector were called to the scene.
The residents of the home are being helped by the Red Cross. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Bruce was arrested and is facing charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive right, traveling too fast for conditions, as well as operating without insurance.
