New Haven, CT (July 30, 2019) – On July 26, police and emergency crews received a request for assistance after two teens were struck by a car and left on the side of the Tomlinson Bridge on Forbes Avenue, just between East Street and Stiles Street.

According to reports, 18-year-old Christopher Franco and an unnamed 15-year-old were traveling down the roadway on scooters at approximately 10:30 p.m. when they were both struck by a motor vehicle.

The driver responsible then fled the scene. A good Samaritan witnessed the incident and followed the driver until they were able to located by law enforcement.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Mr. Franco ended up passing away due to the extent of his injuries.

The driver, who was identified as 55-year-old Judy Gomez, was subsequently arrested and is being charged with vehicular manslaughter.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the teen injured in this incident, and our deepest condolences go out to the family of Mr. Christopher Franco at this time.
