Hartford, CT (December 28, 2019) - A fatal collision occurred at 1 a.m. in Hartford. It resulted in the death of an 18-year-old boy.

Christian Cruz, an 18-year old New Britain resident, was driving west near exit 48 on I-84. Another New Britain teen, a 16-year-old, was in the passenger seat. Suddenly, Mr. Cruz lost control of his vehicle. The car veered sharply left and struck the center median barrier. 

Mr. Cruz, who was not wearing his seat belt, was unresponsive when medical personnel arrived. He was quickly transported to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, where he was pronounced dead. 

The 16-year-old passenger was wearing his seat belt when the collision occurred. He was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were minor.

The crash is actively being investigated.
