Manchester, CT (November 5, 2019) - Manchester police responded to reports of a car/pedestrian accident at the intersection of Hartford Road and Fairfield Street. 

Tuesday was Election Day and John Deeb, a Manchester Republican Town Committee Chairman, was working. He was on his way to count ballots and was delivering clipboards to party headquarters. It was reported that he stopped on his walk to pick up a piece of paper that had fallen into the street when he was suddenly struck by a car. 

When police arrived, John Deeb was unresponsive in the road. They were able to provide medical help until the paramedics arrived. He was quickly taken to Hartford Hospital, but he succumbed to his serious injuries. He was pronounced dead. 

The driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police and investigators. 

The residents of Manchester have said many touching words about John Deeb and his presence in the community. He will surely be missed.
