Posted by Connecticut Accident News | Sep 30, 2019 | 0 Comments

Hartford, CT (September 26, 2019) - 57 year old Rudy Cabrera was hit by a car while driving his motorized scooter near 98 Wethersfield Ave at 2:50 p.m. His injuries were serious and he died at the Hartford Hospital 15 minutes after his arrival. The vehicle responsible fled the scene.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and found it crashed at Stonington Street and Wethersfield Avenue. The car was empty, but police found the driver several blocks away.

Irving Gonzalez (19) is in custody and charged with misconduct with a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license, failure to drive in a proper lane, failure to obey traffic control signal, and evading responsibility, resulting in death. Police believe the driver was going north on Wethersfield Avenue, toward Morris Street, and drove very fast in the left turn only lane through a red light, where he collided with Mr. Cabrera.

Our thoughts are with the victim and his family and friends.
