Ansonia, CT (December 23, 2019) - An out-of-control vehicle crashed into a residence on Platt Street in Ansonia on Monday.

At around noon, Ansonia police received a call from Derby police detailing a car driving irregularly toward Ansonia on Derby Avenue. Shortly after this warning call, 43-year-old Eric Ricitelli, the driver of the vehicle, attempted to take a corner on Platt Street in Ansonia. He misjudged the turn, went up on a curb, hit a street sign, and slid through some hedges. After this series of crashes, the car became airborne and ended up rolling over and smashing into the house at 35 Platt Street.

Luckily, no one was home during the ordeal, but the family's security cameras caught the entire thing on video. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, but he was very quickly found and apprehended by police. When he was stopped and arrested, Mr. Ricitelli had a glass crack pipe with him.

Mr. Ricitelli was charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft of license plate, misuse of plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, and wrong way driving on a one way street.
