Fatal Pickup Accident in Canton

Canton, CT (October 27, 2019) - Canton and New Hartford Volunteer Fire, EMS personnel, Canton Police Department, and The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to reports of a fatal, single car accident on Cherry Brook Road. 

Captain Lawrence A. Terra of Canton Police Department announced to the public that the pickup truck struck a tree at around 5:40 p.m. Someone came upon the truck a bit after the incident and notified emergency services. Only 30-year-old John Donofrio was in the truck and he was found deceased immediately upon arrival by emergency services. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be determining the exact cause of death. 

Cherry Brook Road was closed for a couple hours after the accident and has since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
