Farmington, CT – Motorcyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run, Driver Arrested

Farmington, CT (July 8, 2019) – A motorcyclist was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver on Saturday, July 6, and the suspect has been arrested, according to authorities. Police stated that the incident took place on Interstate 84, near Exit 39 in Farmington, at approximately 4:45 a.m. 

According to police, the motorcyclist stopped for a short time on the right shoulder and then pulled back out into the roadway when he was struck by a Ford Explorer. The driver of the Explorer, identified as Michael Rios, 26, of Hartford, fled the scene before abandoning the vehicle on the Exit 39 off-ramp. 

The victim was ejected from his motorcycle during the collision, which left him with serious injuries. Authorities stated that a teen stopped his vehicle and assisted the victim until responders arrived. The unidentified victim was last stated to be in serious condition and Rios was apprehended by Farmington Police shortly after the incident.
