Fairfield, CT (June 16, 2019) -   Authorities have reported that a state trooper and three others were injured as a result of a car that crashed into the trooper's cruiser. The state trooper remains in serious condition.

A car was broken down on the median of I-95 Sunday morning and the state trooper took the time to pull over and provide assistance.  Another vehicle veered off the road and smashed into the cruiser.

The trooper was trapped along with the driver of the car that veered off the road.  It took the help of the Fairfield Fire Department to get the trooper and driver out of the crash.

This incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.  The result of the crash and the efforts to help those injured caused the road to be closed down for approximately 5 hours.  The trooper has been identified as Gregory Sawicki, 29. The driver of the vehicle that swerved off the road was identified as Joseph Buzzanca, 32.  Sawicki was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and Buzzanca was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital.

The disabled car was driven by Carmen Cisneros, 25 of Woodbridge, VA.  She had a passenger in the car, Jose Martin Guerrero, 22 of Bronx, NY. Both of these individuals were taken to St. Vincent's Hosptial where they were treated for minor injuries.

We are thankful that those who were injured are receiving the care they need and we hope that they have a fast recovery from their injuries.
