Fairfield, CT – David L. Schmerzler Killed In Accident On Sturges Highway

Fairfield, CT (July 1, 2019) – At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, emergency crews responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in front of 3330 Sturges Highway.

According to reports, 54-year-old David L. Schmerzler was traveling along the roadway when his vehicle was hit by a large limb from a Sassafras tree.

The impact caused the driver to sustained serious injuries. Schmerzler was found unconscious in his vehicle and transported to Norwalk Hospital. At 3:18 p.m., Schmerzler was pronounced deceased as the result of his injuries.

Mr. Schmerzler's wife, Donna Schmerzler, sustained injuries as a passenger in the vehicle but is expected to be okay.

We hope the injured victim is able to make a full recovery from her injuries.
