East Windsor, CT (May 11, 2019) -   The Connecticut State Police are reporting that three people were injured in a head-on crash during the early hours of Saturday morning.   The accident happened on I-91 South between exits 45 and 44 at approximately 2:30 a.m.

According to sources, a white Honda Civic collided with a red Honda Civic.  The driver of the white Honda Civic was identified as 24-year old Dashawn McDaniel of Springfield, MA.  The driver of the red Honda Civic has been identified as Richard Mingione of Branford. Mingione had a passenger in his vehicle, 30-year old Lyle Olson of Montville.  

The accident resulted in injuries in both vehicles.  McDaniel was taken to Hartford Hospital and his injuries were reported to be serious.  Mingione and Olson were taken to Saint Francis Hospital. The severity of the Mingione and Olson's injuries have not been reported.

After the head-on crash, the center lanes were closed for several hours until they were re-opened around 6:30 a.m.  

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
