Bridgeport, CT (June 3, 2019) – On June 2, police and emergency crews in Bridgeport reported to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Fairfield and Hancock.
Reports of the incident show that a motorcyclist was stopped at the intersection for a red light. As the light turned green, the motorcyclist passed through the intersection and was struck by a minivan traveling along the adjoining roadway.
The motorcycle went under the front side of the minivan, trapping the driver for several minutes before he was able to crawl up from underneath. The motorcyclist sustained some injuries in the incident.
Investigations are currently ongoing. According to a witness to the accident, the first light at the roadway where the minivan was turned red, but the second light remained green, providing both vehicles the right of way at the same time.
Police are currently working to determine who had the right of way and if there was a system error at the time of the incident.
