Ansonia Accident Closes Route 8

Ansonia, CT (November 23, 2019) - Ansonia Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a car accident on Route 8 at 8:30 p.m.

Connecticut State Police have reported that a John Mulrooney of Prospect was driving his Toyota Tacoma north when Jahrell Noble, a man from Watertown, struck him with his Infiniti. The crash sent Mulrooney's truck flying over the guardrail and into an embankment. Noble's car collided with the median barrier. He and his three passengers fled the scene of the crash. 

John Mulrooney and his passengers were alright thankfully and only had minor injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing, but it has been reported that Noble was speeding and following Mulrooney's car very closely. 

Following the accident, Route 8 northbound between exits 21 and 19 was closed. It has since been reopened, but it was blocked off for several hours on Saturday.
