Posted by Connecticut Accident News | Dec 26, 2019 | 0 Comments

Bethany, CT (December 24, 2019) - A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed while crossing Amity Road on Tuesday.

James Skaarva, a 60-year-old Bethany resident, was walking across Amity Road from the southbound lane at around 5 in the afternoon. Henry A. Sarbieski, a 62-year-old Naugatuck resident, was driving north on this street. His Chevrolet 2500 had a 7.5 foot plow attached when it struck Mr. Skaarva.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by emergency personnel. Mr. Sarbieski, however, was uninjured and even his car was not damaged. Mr. Sarbieski remained at the scene, awaited police, and cooperated fully with the investigation.

Amity Road was closed for a short time following the initial investigation, but has since reopened.

Our thoughts are with the victim and his family.
