Vernon, CT (December 2, 2019) - On Route 30, around the area of Merline Road, a fatal collision occurred between a box truck and a sedan. 

At around 3 in the morning, Marcellus Davis was driving his BMW sedan a short distance from his home. It was around this time that the two vehicles collided, but the details have not been released to the media. The 22-year-old Vernon resident died on impact. His friends told investigators that he was a regular at the Route 30 Cumberland Farms and often drove in this area. 

The driver of the box truck was 61-year-old Victor Zetterstrom from Rocky Hill. After the incident, he was transported to St. Francis Hospital for evaluation and treatment. It has been said that he suffered serious injuries. 

After the collision with Mr. Davis' car, the truck slammed into a utility pole on Hartford Turnpike, knocking it to the ground. This happened right in front of the Vernon Diner. 

A portion of the area affected by the accident was blocked off for a bit by police, but it has since been reopened.
