Madison, CT-One Dead, And Three Seriously Injured In Crash At Hammonasset Beach State Park

Madison, CT (June 23, 2019) -  The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation (Encon) Police are looking into an automobile accident which was fatal.

The Authorities responded Saturday evening around 7:11 p.m. to the accident at Hammonasset Beach State Park near the ticket booth.  A vehicle with 6 passengers was found rolled over and two of the occupants were ejected.

The driver along with three of the passengers was immediately transported to the hospital.  Nicholas Proto, 18, of Higganum was identified as one of the victims. He died at the hospital.

The park was closed through the rest of Saturday evening but opened again on Sunday.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
