East Lyme, CT – Pedestrian Airlifted to Hospital After Being Struck by Vehicle

East Lyme, CT (July 8, 2019) – One person was transported to the hospital by helicopter after being hit by a motor vehicle in the town of East Lyme on Sunday morning, July 7. Police stated that the incident took place at approximately 7:09 a.m. on Riverview Drive.

According to authorities, the unidentified vehicle operator is believed to have been exiting a complex located at 91 Riverview Drive when they struck a pedestrian for unknown reasons. A police officer who was on patrol at the time was notified of the accident and quickly arrived at the scene along with emergency medical crews.

Officials stated that the injured pedestrian was promptly transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital via ground ambulance, at which point the victim was flown to Yale-New Haven Hospital by LifeStar. The driver involved remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. The incident is under investigation.
