Toyota to recall millions of vehicles due to safety issues

Toyota is voluntarily recalling almost 6.4 million vehicles worldwide, 1.8 million of which are from the U.S., after finding out about seat and steering wheel problems.

A document issued by the Japanese car manufacturer to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that some of the recalled models have a defective seat adjustment railing that might fail to lock front seats. Other defects include a steering wheel that might cause the airbag system to malfunction.

This recall was issued after the Justice Department awarded Toyota a penalty of $1.2 billion over acceleration issues.

Jaguar to recall 2,929 cars in United States

autonomous carsAutomaker giant Jaguar recently recalled two of its models in the U.S. for possible stalling issues and a defective power window that may injure occupants, according to a report published on Thursday, August 15.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the first recall affects 940 XF 2-liter GTDi 2013 models, which may stall or loss braking and power steeling assistance if the hose clamp of the charge air cooler is detached. The second recall affects 1,989 XK 2011-2014 model convertibles with a defective switch that may activate the power window and injure its occupants when controlling the roof. NHTSA said Jaguar will address the issues by either repairing or replacing the concerned parts of the recalled vehicles, beginning on September 27.
