Internal Injury
Internal organ lacerations are serious and sometimes life threatening injuries. In Connecticut, despite improvements in vehicle and work place safety including increased governmental and industry safety regulation designed to reduce the occurrence of these injury events, the frailty of the human body wins out. A Liability injury claim brought on behalf of those affected often crosses several practice areas with which my firm is well acquainted. Many of these injuries occur in the work environment and involve construction site injuries and mobile equipment or vehicles. At times this can occur as the result of inadvertent injury to organs within or near the operative site during scheduled surgery thus raising the question of medical negligence. Internal organs such as livers, bile duct, kidneys, stomachs and the aorta can be injured due to a multitude of causes and require major life and psychological adjustments if the initial trauma is survived. The recovery is definitely a process though possible and I have seen excellent results over the longer term. After stabilizing medical care is received, financial security and taking account of rehabilitative needs is essential.
